Right before I go to sleep every night, i tell my sister and my mom what my blood sugar is.
And i (usually) have a juice, honey, my tester, strips, and a poker, with a flashlight next to my bed on my night stand.
My mom has a habit to put the strip in the tester, not so it turns on, but so that when she’s in a hurry, she can push the strip in and everything is ready…I don’t have that habit. i have the opposite. in my mind i think that if there is a strip in the tester, it’s old‚ so i always open the strip bottle and insert a new strip right before i test at night.
Mom said to me after i told her my number was 138, “What if you were 30 and fumbled to get the strip out? From experieince, you should have it set up and ready to go.”
And the funny thing is, i recently woke up at 3 in the morning and automatically tested my blood sugar, for some weird reason, and i was 46‚ and i can remember haveing trouble with trying to get the strip out of the vial, and it was pretty annoying-since my hands were shaky and i was half-asleep.
So i have to make it a new habit to put the strip in the tester half way, so that way, it will always be ready in case of that one time I never allow for.
