So, today started with testing at 2:45 this morning, checking from a bolus 3 hours earlier, because my blood sugar was 348! (I was 214 before we went swimming last night, and didn‚Äôt bolus, because I had already disconnected my pump, so it was 2 hours of no insulin, and I should have corrected.) When i tested at 2:45 a.m., I was apparently 148, but when I tested, I totally thought I was 169. I need to actually wake up when I test that early, rather than test in a half asleep state, and test, out of default. I guess that is what happened becuase when I was talking to my mom this morning about my number, she told me that she checked to see if I tested around 3:00 and saw my tester said I was 148! I was like, “no it wasn’t, I was 169!” So we got my tester and looked at the history, and she was right, I was actually 148, this is sooo weird! I remember turning my noisy alarm clock off and testing, but I guess the number didn’t sink in.
I woke up this morning at 55. No juice near by, so I just had some honey, that is always by my bed. Jackie made sure that I turned my pump’s basal down to 0.1. :] 15 minutes later, I was only 68. I got up and made breakfast‚Ķoatmeal. I now know how to bolus for this, which is really cool. I’ve been having it every morning. :] I recovered from the low, and bolused for my breakfast. I was still feeling low the whole day though, that’s weird. My sister and I had a meeting at UNLV and I was 78 when we left the university. I had some juice and Jackie drove us home. We went with our mom to look at cell phones‚ 10 days until we can get a new one! We stopped for a piece of pizza, and i tested there, and I was 114. I bolused for the pizza and noticed, again, that it really hurt when the insulin was delivering‚ and had been itching. After we came home, I took the site out, which was bleeding through the cannula, (gross!) and the site was very red‚ I washed it with water and soap and put Neosporin and a band-aid and put my site on my other hip, with new insulin and less this time. I guess over the summer I need to change my site every other day and fill the syringe with less insulin, becuase in this Las Vegas heat, the insulin is going bad inside the pump. *edit* as of 8:15pm. So i just tested because I couldn‚Äôt read the computer screen. It said i was 418! And before after dinner, i bolused the second time since the new site and “NO DELIVERY” but it delivered after the Resume button was pressed, so I figured everything was alright. Nooo‚ i feel awful. Thirsty. Sick. Ughh. Very Thirsty. Stupid Blood sugars….come down already! :
