About
Thanks for coming to our blog!
Hi! We are Mollie and Jackie, and we live in Nevada, we are also twin sisters. I, Mollie, am a Juvenile Diabetic, and Jackie, is not. I’ve been on the insulin pump for 8 years and recently started using the Continuous Glucose Monitor.
We are both freshmen transfer students with enough credits to be Juniors, currently attending The Honors College at UNLV. We both love music, smiling, and seeing the best in every person and situation. Even though one of us has diabetes, we live life to the fullest and work as a team to resolve each of our problems. For the last 14 years, Jackie has been by my side helping me; she IS my guardian angel.
This blog talks about our lives and our experiences with and without diabetes and we talk about how Jackie helps me deal with my diabetes, physically, spiritually, emotionally. Hopefully, our honest approach to our experiences and the way we deal with situations will be helpful to other diabetics, their families, and peers.
We’re Mollie and Jackie Singer, and this is our third blog. We’ve been blogging since March of 2004. We created this blog so we could write about how its like to live with diabetes and how it’s like to have a sister who lives with the disease. Through this medium, we discuss life with diabetes in the hope that it will answer questions and help people to know they are not alone. It is meant to insire others to deal with their disease, and encourages them to manage it. Our Blog is a place where anyone can ask us anything about diabetes and in holding such open discussions, more and more people learn about their disease and their familes, friends, and peers learn how they can be of assistance. We try to write in here on a daily basis, but that doesn’t always happen.
We live in Las Vegas, Nevada…yes people actually live there! We’re fraternal twins and have 2 sisters and 1 brother. Mollie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 4, on September 8, 1993. She just recently celebrated my 14 year and 6 month aniversary of diabetes…i say celebrate because i’m happy i don’t have any complications.
My sister and I graduated from high school in May of 2007 with 53 college credits already. This was possible because we went to Nevada State High School, a dual credit program for juniors and seniors in high school…who are able to take actual college courses and in so doing, meet the high school requirements and acquire college credits. I will be attending Honors College at UNLV in the Fall of 2007 and in less than 2 1/2 years, should have a Liberal Arts degree with a multidisciplinary study in both music and communications…but mostly music.
I love music! We sing together, and play piano and guitar. You can listen to us at our website, We sing mostly country and spriitual music, but enjoy listening to everything, but rap, with the exception of Country Troy! Our favorite Music includes: Big and Rich, The Jonas Brothers, Shannon Lawson, The Muzik Mafia, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Johnny Cash, Wayne Newton, The Gatlin Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Billy Currington, Aly &Aj, Backstreet Boys, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Los Lonely boys, Brad Paisley, Brooks and Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, Maroon 5, Martina McBride, Phil Vassar, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Shania Twain, She Daisy, Steve Wariner, Switchfoot, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Trick Pony, The Warren Brothers, Willie Nelson.
My Hero:My sister, Jackie is my hero. She means the world to me. She’s my twin sister, my best friend, and has always been here for me. I don’t know what i would do without her. Shes the best!!! Jackie is my guardian angel who will always watch over me and everyone in her life. Jackie, i love you soooooo much!!
