1st Attempt for a1c Test…

This morning started by Jackie telling me repeatedly to wake up.
After about 20 minutes, I had enough strength to get my tester and test my blood sugar.

56.

“oh great…”

I called my mom upstairs.
(I seem to call people when I’m low and tell them my number…this happens a lot.)

Any way, I called Mom and told her my number.

“do you have some juice by your bed?”

I said, “yes, but what about going to get my a1c test done? we were going to do that this morning…..”

“you can’t right now, your number is too low! …You won’t make it…drink some juice and we can go tomorrow.”

“awwww!!”

Darn. this is not so cool. But maybe next Friday, I can go over without having a low blood sugar and get my wonderful a1c test….i’m a little nervous about the results…I have a feeling they are not going to be very good…… :[

Hi Molly,
When I got to my PCP (who checks everything - BP, cholesterol, etc), he also checks my A1c & current BG - even though my endo takes care of this, too. Anyway, one time when I went to my PCP for my fasting blood work, my BG was 107! I was so happy. (I was told by my diabetes educator when I got my pump to always be over 100 when I drive.) So I thought 107 was wonderful! But my PCP thought this was a little too high for a fasting & wanted me to talk to my endo about changing my basals to make this number lower. Well, at my next endo visit, I told him what my PCP said & he kind of laughed because he understood my frustration. You just can’t function very well when your BG is so low. You were better off to wait & go another time for your A1c - 56 is WAY too low! Good decision.
