Highs, Lows, and 2 Sites Gone Bad

Oh man.
Today started out by forgetting to bolus for breakfast…and feeling thirsty with a blood sugar of 334 because of it.

detaching the tubing from my site this morning, when I was twisting
it back on, i noticed that only one of the two sides that I need to hold to twist it
was there. The other half was missing! That is so not cool. But I took a picture of it anyway, because I thought it was pretty weird!

So my numbers weren’t affected by the weird site, but the insulin was defnatley absorbing, because after having 3 highs this morning, I was 99. We ate lunch, and i bolused. 2 hours later, i was 62 and had juice and turned my pump down. An hour later, i was 60. come on now! stupid blood sugars! come up already! i don’t like feeling low!!!! oh joy….im 54! isn’t ths great? We had dinner and i bolused so well! i was 144 two and a half hours later!!! (yay!)
But at 11:00pm, i tested and i was not so happy about this number. I was 275.
Mom asked me if there was a problem with my site or anything. I checked it.

Ohhhhh no. I haven’t seen this in a long time. There was blood inside the button in my site. Not literally a button, but thats just what i think it looks like. It was gross. I showed mom and wanted to make sure i wasn’t seeing things, but it was not good. I changed my site at 11:15, ( i hate doing that, becuase then i have to wake up 2 hours later, but i had no choice.) After taking the bloody site out, I put some Neosporin and a bandaid over it to make sure it wouldn’t get infected. ”no wonder it was burning when i bolused for dinner…..” The other site is great though! It didn’t even hurt!

That happened to me this morning when I woke up, only one of the two sides that I need to hold to twist it was there.. the broken off part was poking my leg.
